The Art of the Mix Tape Vol. II (Group Exhibit)
Back in the summer of 2015, Speakeasy Art Gallery curated the original Art of the Mix Tape exhibit. Since then, others have used the concept and even the name. But we're happy to announce that the original "The Art of the Mix Tape" exhibit at Speakeasy Art Gallery will now have a second volume! We are currently seeking submissions from established and emerging artists for our winter group exhibit, The Art of the Mix Tape Vol. II!
Have you not had the heart to throw away those old cassette tapes that you have stored in your basement or attic? How about turning them into a piece of art? We are asking artists to create one or more pieces of art on or from a cassette tape. Any medium will be considered; the finished piece must be named after a song title by a specific artist and not exceed 6"x6"x6". The concept being, that all of the pieces exhibited together will become one big mix tape.
You may either submit photos of the finished cassette or send us a proposal of your idea along with examples of your previous work to illustrate what the final piece will look like. Submissions must be submitted digitally to no later than November 24, 2019. Any one piece must have a retail price below $300, the gallery will collect a 40% commission on any sold work. It will be the responsibility of the artist to deliver or drop off the accepted piece(s) to Speakeasy Art Gallery at 816 Main Street, Boonton, NJ 07005 by November 24, 2019. It will also be the responsibility of the artist to either pick up their piece or pay a $5.00 shipping and handling fee(for pieces that don’t require packaging larger in size or weight than the original cassette tape) to have any unsold piece returned within the United States at the end of the exhibit. International Artists please contact us to inquire about shipping rates.
We’re looking forward to seeing your work!
